Instructors

These fabulous instructors—all Survivors, Thrivers or Previvors—teach TFT’s weekly class for the Breast Cancer Community

Harmony Boatwright, TFT BOD, Owner of Grace Pilates + Yoga

TEACHING DATES: 3/26

I am so passionate about helping with Teasers for Tatas because two very important people in my life lost their lives to Breast Cancer, which has deeply impacted me.

Aimee Gordon, TFT BOD, Owner of Contrology Cathouse

TEACHING DATES: TBD

Pilates has provided the foundation for Aimee’s strength and work ethic, and Aimee is proof that the principles of Pilates can help any body become a better body. It is with great pleasure that she can help TFT bring Pilates to the greater breast cancer community with the goal that other patients can gain a sense of control over their bodies at a time when that control feels uncertain. Joseph Pilates said, “Be in control of your body rather than at its mercy,” and that is exactly what Pilates can do for anyone enduring a breast cancer diagnosis.

Lia Jones, Instructor at Real Pilates

TEACHING DATES: 4/30

Lia’s journey into Pilates is one of resilience and transformation. After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012, she began searching for ways to restore her health and recover her mobility. Breast cancer surgery left her with a frozen shoulder and an overall fear of exercise. While physical theReal Pilatesrapy helped, it wasn’t exactly what she needed to regain her full strength and mobility. Lia discovered Pilates in 2020 and immediately felt at home. The exercises helped her regain her full range of motion, strength and flexibility. As an educator, Lia greatly enjoyed the mind-body connection as well. Lia knew that through connecting with the Teasers for Tatas Community she would find like-minded people and lifelong connections.

Natarsha McQueen, Owner of McQueen Fitness

TEACHING DATES: 4/9

As a breast cancer survivor myself, teaching this Pilates class fir TFT is deeply personal. I understand the physical and emotional journey of recovery, and the importance of reconnecting with your body. Pilates helped me with my recovery and I'd love to create a safe space for other survivors to experience the same support.

Melissa Miles, Founder of Teasers For Tatas

TEACHING DATES: 3/19

A breast cancer survivor since 2014, Melissa has served as Pilates instructor at Mount Sinai Hospital’s Dubin Breast Center since completing her treatment there in 2016. She founded TFT to bring the Pilates and Breast Cancer communities together to fund hospitals and organizations that provide free wellness services to Patients, Survivors, Pre-vivors and Thrivers. She’s thrilled that TFT is now offering direct support to the Breast Cancer Community through this weekly class.

Jessica Newsreel, Owner of Pilates Girl

TEACHING DATES: 5/14

I am a previvor and had my preventative, risk reducing surgeries more than 10 years ago. When I was cleared to exercise, I found a Pilates instructor with experience working with breast cancer survivors and previvors. It felt so amazing and empowering to move again. I'd love to share that feeling with other women.

Amanda Ross, Owner of Track 35 Pilates

TEACHING DATES: 4/2

Teaching this class is important to me because as someone that has been through all the surgeries, Pilates helped me heal and feel normal again. I did Pilates right up to the day before surgery as a pre-hab and slowly started building it into some light exercises and gradually retrained my muscles and body to find its strength and range of motion. I got certified in the Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Rehabilitation program as well so that I can assist other women to feel as good as I do during this journey.

Dorothy Thomas, Owner of Personal Pilates Plus

TEACHING DATES: 4/16

Dorothy experienced her first Teasers for Tatas Class at a dear friend’s Pilates Studio in Dallas in 2019, one week after her DCIS diagnosis. She’s been a valued member of our community ever since!
